I am a painter and a quilter. Sometimes I combine the two. I would like to share my art ideas.

Another Hero Quilt. I think I like this one the best.
Its really fun to play around with these, It took me quite awhile to get the block so the stripes would line up. Then I moved the blocks around to come up with this design. Played with the colors, also. Thinking about making this for my nephew in the Marines.

But wait, there’s more
What I am showing on these blogs is one or two versions of quilts that have many different ways of construction for a totally different looking quilt. For some, it is a color change, for others it is positioning the blocks in a different way. It not only fascinates me but makes it difficult for me to decide which one to make.

Christmas is coming
I have been designing quilt blocks that could be pillow cases, table toppers, or wall hangings. Here are five of the designs do far. These are 16” blocks. You will notice that the block frames are the same but the picture on the inside is different. Some are applique, others are 3-D. Patterns will be available for sale once I get them written up.

Windmill
This is an unfinished watercolor done on site of a windmill. I haven’t figured out how to paint the plumes on top of the ornamental grass stems. I am thinking that this would make another neat quilted fabric landscape. Have to get two others done first, or maybe not.
More Halloween fun with Candy Corn Kitty and Friends
Friday, September 19, 2014
I have created some Halloween patterns entitled Candy Corn Kitty and Friends. Here are three of those patterns.

Ghosty playing hide and seek with Jack

I have 3 more designs with Jack playing catch with scarecrow (guess who is up in the air). Scarecrow playing tag with Bat (Catch me if you can) and Ghosty and Jack playing hide and seek with Legs ( a spider under a witch’s hat) They are made, just don’t have pictures of them yet.

I have Old Blue, Old Yella, now I have just finished Big Red.
Just completed this watercolor of an old red and black truck. It was really a challenge to get the black done with all the reflections of blue, red, and green in it. It was fun though.

Light house light at Heartland Park Omaha NE
I did a watercolor of this earlier, then decided it would make a good project for fabric and thread art. Size is approximately 14” x 17”. Fabric and thread only.

Back home again
My husband and I went on vacation for two lovely weeks(discounting mosquitos) visiting various parks in Wisconsin and upper Michigan. I got some gorgeous pictures that I plan on making into landscape quilts. Here are a couple of them. I can’t wait to get started. In fact, I think I’ll start today….. after weeding the garden, maybe.

Prom Dress
This is the prom dress I made for my granddaughter. It was made from her great-grandmother’s wedding dress pattern, with some changes. She didn’t want the skinny waist and ruffles and no train. This dress is heavy. It has 18 yards of fabric around the hem of the skirs. 6 yds of glitter organza, 6yds of satin, and 6 yds of lining. The top of the skirt was fully gathered. It was a challenge but fun.

A better quilt instruction I hope
The last one was a disaster. I guess that’s what happens when I’m trying to get something done before I go to bed and don’t really know what I am doing. Another day and things are going much better, I think. The images can be enlarged for reading the directions. That works. I’ve never tried to print a blog so I don’t know if that will work or not. Anyway, this one is much better.

Optical Star Quilt
I like to design quilts. Sometimes that is more fun than making them. This one is an exception. I had to try it. Here is the directions. I hope they are clear enough. If not, let me know. It is hard to write directions, especially with pictures. This is all new to me.
