Another art show success.  I sold a number of Christmas cards that were prints of the Christmas door hangings and one of the hangings.

I have just finished these mini wall hangings.  Elves’ Toy Shoppe, Candy Cane Manor Retirement Home, Snowflakes Cereal Manufacturing Company, and Three Wise Guys Pawn Shop.  I needed to make another Candy Cane Manor because the first one sold.   Yea!

Christmas

I am working on some more small Christmas wall hangings.   I haven't finished them enough to put on the page but the titles include "3 Wise Guys Pawn Shop, Snowflake Cereal Manufacturing Company, and Elvis' Toy Shop.  I haven't decided on Elvis' or Elves'.  Either one would work, I guess.   Well, break over.  Back to work.

Okay, here is number five of the Christmas wall or door hanging series.  This one is Christmas Spirits  serving Eggnog, Hot spiced cider, and wassail.  I am having way too much fun with these.

I have a showing tonight (Friday) for 2nd Fridays in Council Bluffs.  I will be on the 5th floor of the Park building which is east of Bayless Park and west of the Library.  The show times are 6-9.  I will be showing the Christmas wall hangings and some paintings.

I needed three ships a-sailing for this piece.  I couldn’t find any ship embellishments I liked so I made some with shrink plastic.  I like the way they turned out.   

Creativity abounds

I have been busy designing Christmas blocks.  Here are 4 that I have completed so far.

There will be three ships on the light house banner once I get them done.

I have also finished a “new” old truck watercolor on paper.  I am doing this truck as watercolor on cloth and will post it as soon as it is finished.

I just joined facebook, something I didn't think I would ever do; however, it seems to have been a good decision as I am getting quite a bit of feedback on my work.   Currently I am getting some new work done for the next art show in November.  I have begun another watercolor/quilt picture.  This one is an old stock truck.  I am also doing a watercolor of said truck.  I have also been thinking up ideas for a Christmas quilt/blocks with the same kind of theme as the apple valley quilts.  It is a little harder, since there are already sew many Christmas patterns out there.

I painted these pictures at the Guthrie Grove Retreat Center near Guthrie Center, IA.  They are available as prints and cards also.

I can't believe it has been almost a month since I last posted something.  I have been busy with apple fest and Second Fridays show in Council Bluffs.  I have also been experimenting on combining quilting and watercolor on fabric.  That's coming along fairly well.  Here are two of my experiments.

Apple fest is over and now it is time to get ready for another art show.  I was successful in selling some of my patterns and quilt book at the craft fair.  I also received a lot of positive feedback on my work.  That was the best part. 

I am getting ready for Applefest in Woodbine, Iowa this Saturday (9-28).  This is taking up most of my free time.  I really don't know what to expect as this is my first experience with being a part of a craft fair.   I am excited as well as a little apprehensive.  I guess I will learn a lot about what to do and what not to do.  I hope at least to break even.  I will be selling small hanging quilts and patterns from my Apple Valley collection and Pumpkin Haven.  These quilts will be on display.  I will also have watercolors and prints. Maybe a few ceramic pieces.   That is still up in the air though.  Well, got to get busy.  I have a lot to do in the next three days.

I am so excited.   I sold stuff at the Second Fridays Art Show.  This is held every second Friday (hence the name) at the Park Bldg. in Council Bluffs Iowa.  This was my first time showing there.  I received quite a bit of positive feedback on my exhibit.  Looking forward to my next showing.

Today, Saturday.  I stopped by a quilt shop in Council Bluff and showed the owner three patterns from my apple quilt collection.  She bought three of each for her shop.   Cool.

Now to get ready for Applefest in Woodbine on Saturday, Sept. 28.  I am really going to be busy for the next couple of weeks.

Halloween is coming soon. Make a trip to Pumpkin Haven. Enjoy a relaxing visit to the Zombie Beauty and Spa. Try one of Chef Gourdon’s famous pumpkin pies. Shop at Hag’s Rags Bootique for that special gossamer gown or maybe the Eerie Music Shop for that special song that keeps haunting your mind. It’s all here and more.

I have been really busy lately and haven't had time to add to my blog.  Working on finishing up my quilt book called  "Welcome to Apple Valley"  hopefully in time for Apple fest in Woodbine at the end of September.  There is also a "Celebrate the Hills" art show in Moorhead September 6th that I am getting ready for plus Second Fridays art show in Council Bluffs.  Here is another sneak peak at one of the blocks in the quilt book.

I never thought I would be a blogger but here goes.  I am a quilter.  I design and make my own quilts.   I have been told I need to market my designs and create a website, a blog, get on pinterest, etc.  Okay, so I am, or at least trying to.   I not only make quilts, but also banners and fabric art.  I also am into watercolor painting.    Here are some of my creations.  I would love some input from other fellow artists and quilters or interested people.
